EQUIPMENT: Balls, Bats, Gloves, Protective Screen

In Wisconsin, we start practicing in late March and we are hopefully outside by the first week in April. To catch the players up to pitching we play our 6 Out Scrimmage three to four times per week during the season. We can usually get each team 12 outs and 4 to 5 live at bats during the Scrimmage, which takes approximately one hour. It's competitive and fun for the players.

RULES

• 15 Players
• 3 teams of 5 players each (this year we had 3 teams of 4 players each.)
• We try keeping the same teams all year, and it keeps the players competitive during the year.
• A coach or player 45 degrees behind a baseball protective screen pitching.
• Start with a 1-1 count.
• Catcher calls strikes.
• Clear bases after 6 outs, not after 3 because you have continual situations, able to go through all situations
• Whoever makes the last out has to get the foul ball.
• The last two players on the team hit off tees while waiting to hit.
• Coaches call outs and if a player does any of the following their team gets an extra out if: (all of these promotes sportsmanship and hustle.)
  • Player does not run out any play.
  • Player throws helmet.
  • Player throws bat.
  • Player swears.
• Winners-
  • Winning team goes home.
  • Second place team picks up equipment.
  • Third place team runs two laps around the outside of the fence.
