JUGS T and Short T Drills (10):
featuring Coach Dave Gasser

Coach Gasser’s coaching career spans 36 years and includes 30 varsity teams, as well as 7th grade, freshman and JV coaching experiences. His varsity coaching record in Oregon is 661-193 (most wins in Oregon baseball history), including five state champions at three different schools, 18 league champions and twelve state “final four” appearances.

Philosophy of Coaching

The Philosophy behind every baseball coaching job he had was consistent. Develop a fundamental approach to skill development that improves every player, maximizing their strengths and minimizing their weakness’. Begin this teaching progression at the earliest ages by hosting camps for players, providing baseball coaching tips, and conducting clinics for coaches in the community. Improvement and participation and skill development is the key at young ages, not creating elite traveling teams for some and lesser instruction for those less gifted at an early age. It is “fun” to really improve and develop skills while learning the offensive, defensive and team values of baseball. This is a place where young men can discover that their individual agenda is not as important as team success, setting them up to be better fathers and employees and neighbors and citizens. This is where they can learn that you need to work hard and develop skill and enjoy the work needed to improve to have anything of value to offer others. Baseball can, in fact, offer lessons on success in life beyond the ball field.
